7 Jun 2010 Virgin Gorda (BVI)

Self drive tour around Virgin Gorda

Got up early 6:00 in the morning and found beautiful sunrise

It was very convenient to go out - just walk to the reception office and ask them to call for a taxi.  This morning, a grasshopper greeted us at the office door.

As we have a free car rental offered by the villa, we decided to drive out for fun.  Virgin Gorda was a quiet island with little traffic, with a population of some 1,400 people.

In 1493, on his second voyage to the New World, Christopher Columbus named the island Virgin Gorda, or "Fat Virgin", because the mountain on the island looked like a protruding stomach.

A clear water bay - Savanna Bay
