7 Jun 2010 Virgin Gorda (BVI) Cont'd

Drive south to the Baths

The northern side is mountaineous, with Gorda Peak reaching 417m.  In contract, southern half of the island is flat, with large boulders appearing at every turn.  It is the jewel to be explored.

The Dog Bay

The Coppermine is at the southeast tip

Sothwest tip - the Baths

The best beaches are at he Baths, where giant boulders form a series of tranquil pools and grottos flooded with seawater.  Nearby snorkeling is excellent.  It's still a myth to many people how the boulders were brought to here.  A legend tells that it's the work of a giant.  Scientists think the boulders were brought to the surface eons ago by volcano activity.  The Baths and surrounding area are part of a proposed system of parks and protected areas in the BVI.

Seems a skull

We spent wonderful time among the boulders and took pictures

After hours of swim and snorkeling, we got to the Top of the Baths for a drink.  However, they were about to close before sunset and we were "expelled".

We moved to the Mad Dog nearby.  This puppy was so lively and played with us.

Carrie nearly rang the bell hung from the ceiling and was stopped.  It is a bell to ring for "This round is mine" and serve all the guests a free drink.

I've ordered ginger beer, a local drink

Before getting back to our place, we dropped by into Little Dix Bay - a low-key luxury resort nearby.  There were golf-cars for complimentary transfer for their guests.

At the beach side, another beautiful sunset.  It was pictured by Canon S90, an intelligent camera providing a picture mode for sunrise and sunset.
