13 Jun 2010 - Vieques Puerto Rico

Second day at Vieques - Sun Bay (Ensenada Sombé)

We woke up late this morning and had a leisure walk along the Sun Bay, next to Esperanza

This long half-moon-shaped bay is the island's public beach, mile in length

In the afternoon, I got back and swimmed at the sheer water.  School of fishes joined in to swim around my feet.  We played happily for an hour.

There were many fruit/seed like coconut brought in by the waves and lying on the beach sand.  I collected this one which looks like a green palm-sized strawberry.  (Later on, I brought it with me to Luquillo and threw it back to the sea)

A head like rock at the headland

There are many horse-riding strollling around

Local beer

A tasty shrimp plate for lunch

We met twin brothers for showing us around.  Big brother - with better English and led us to snorkel and the BioBay tour

Little twin - more friendly to greet us first (for their business)

Bio-Bay Tour

Bahía Mosquito, a designated wildlife preserve about 2 miles east of Esperanza, hs the highest concentration of phosphorecent dynoflagellates in the world.  Indeed, it's also known as Bioluminescent Bay.

We took a kayak trip through the lagoon, with bright greenish blue sparkles (upon any action) below the surface as we passed by.  Though allowed and encouraged, I dared not to swim in the bay, in fear not able to get back to the kayak.  Staying on the kayak, we fin the water with our hands to see the sparkles and looked up the starry sky in serenity.

Details could be seen in http://www.biobay.com/
