24 Apr 2013 Gosainkunda lakes

AMS

It is read from the Longely Planet that
"On treks above 4000m, almost everyone experiences some symptoms of mild altitude sickness.  Symptoms tend to be worse at night."
The night before, Noel said she was suffered from headache. I experienced loss of appetite, stomach problem and nausea that night.  In the morning, I took acetazolamide to reduce the symptoms.  However, there was side effect of tingling sensation in the fingers.

A Bright Morning

A very good start of the day, found that we just stayed in a refrigerator.

The second lake - Bhairav Kund under the sun

There was another hut at a higher location

Floating clouds covered the first lake

Group photo beside Gosainkund, the one on the right was taken by Noel's new Sony camera

It was really beautiful

We got our socks soaked and we found our friends put on two pairs of socks (same as me) and wrapped their feet with plastic bag in between the two layers of socks.

There was trace of other animal on the snow

It was funny to step on the footprints of others

But most delightedly, I like to watch snow-covered mountain range with clear blue sky as background

Once again, Babo dragged Noel to climb up this steep slope

Babo was very caring, from-time-to-time, he reminded us to drink water to avoid AMS symptoms.

Clouds in between the mountain range - Langtang Lirung

The zig-zag track we were taking

Another lake but was covered by snow

Ruin of abandoned hut

We then reached Laurebina La (4610m).  It then drops steeply and Noel found it difficult to descend on snow.  She was so tense that made her even exhausted.  We reached a basic seasonal lodge at Phedi High Camp (4100m) where we took rest.  As our socks were wet, we needed to put on dry ones.

Vapour came out from Noel's feet
